U-Haul Moving & Storage of Augusta West

I moved across the country a few weeks ago. Packed literally everything I own up in one of your pull behind tailors. Didn’t realize there wasn’t a single way to lock the trailer to my hitch with the trailer that was provided to me until after I was all packed up. Tried to get ahold of u-haul for hours with no response. I had no other option but to take off anyways. Stopped halfway to my destination to sleep for a few hours, I parallel parked the truck with the trailer, and my mother parked directly behind me. Woke up a few hours later, trailer was gone, and the truck axel was broken/truck was undrivable. U-haul was my first call. They assured me that this happens to about 35% of the trailers they rent out. They assured me 70% of the time the trailers turn back up somewhere, but less than 10% of the time possessions within the trailer are recovered. They were not worried about the trailer, they knew they would get it back someday, but they showed absolutely no remorse to my possessions. I was on my way to move in with my fiance of 9 years… we are getting married in a month due to a deployment coming up. My dress was in there. My late grandmothers pearls. My finances tux… 29 years of Polaroids and memorabilia I will never be able to get back.. When I asked about security features, they said “we can’t guarantee what features come with what trucks/trailers.” Admitting that 35% of your trailers with people’s most valued possessions included, that they trust your company with, are stolen every year, and having absolutely no plan in place to prevent it??? Astronomically negligent. It would cost the company an extra $35 to incorporate a hitch lock, gps locators on the INSIDE of the trailers (mine did have one in the hitch system that was broken immediately, that could have been prevented with a lock :) ) and a camera on the INSIDE of your trailers. I have hired a PI for my case. Over $75,000 of my possessions have been stolen. I am having them comb through the fine...

Great staff. I reserved what I needed. On arrival they noticed I needed an additional hitch for my vehicle. They had it in stock and installed it immediately. Great service.

Very nice service. But, if I wanted to keep the truck until the next day and then take it around the time I had picked the truck up, it should be my decision. I was asked the time to return, we told her around the time we picked it up, and her eyes opened wide, I asked are you closed tomorrow, no answer. All I got: what about 10 am? We accepted because we really needed it, I guess a lot of people my have been moving that day. They were nice though, next time I will just wait until there is one available at the other place I normally rent at.

Very nice and helpful. The place I had set up did not have storage large enough to fit my items. They called around a sent me to this place. Best ever. Very accommodating had me all set up and my access card when the unliaders were finished. Always nice when I came to the unit.
