I talked to Customer Service today about a 145.00 charge on my account. She said to get that charge taken off my account , they had to cancel my debit car. But I can go to the Columbia Road South State Bank to get a new card be there before 5:30 pm today. I get there about 5:15 pm. The girl said that I can’t get my new debit card , she walked in someone’s office and she comes out it has been closed or the card machine was put up. I would have to wait til Monday! I don’t use cash I depend on my debit card and I have bills coming out of this account ! Where is the customer service, oh I forgot it has died . We are thinking long and hard about getting rid of our accounts at South State. We have been a customer since 1997. The girl that was talking to didn’t have a clue . Thank you

Rude rude rude, tellers don’t know how to address customers and the words please and thanks are just not in their vocabulary. I was charged $8.00 to cash a business check drawn in SouthState this was because I was not an account holder. I was told they charged because their accounts are free. Come to find out business accounts are not free, yet I was charged, liars. The main reason I wanted to cash the check instead of just depositing it into my account is because the length of time it took on two previous occasions to get the money into my account. Does not happen with checks drawn on other banks

We went through the drive-through to deposit a check. I had my husband present and we both presented our IDs and we both had signed the check. The teller asked my husband to sign the check. My husband said I already have signed the check-there’s two signatures there. The teller would still not accept his in-person declaration that he signed the check. The teller said to me, “Mrs. __ are you sure YOU didn’t sign his name? I need Mr.__ to sign the check again.” Frustrated and in disbelief, we left and cashed the check at our other bank with no problems. I tried to call the same branch we visited to complain but it was only corporate and I was never able to get beyond the automated system. We came back to deposit the cash and I asked to speak to a supervisor. The supervisor only took up for the teller and cared nothing about his staff accusing long time customers of forgery. Customer service isn’t what it was when this was Georgia Bank and Trust. I will be taking my banking elsewhere.

About a week and a half ago I went into this bank to open a business checking account, I was told to provide the necessary documents and signatures, after providing this, jumping through hoops, I was told the bank wouldn't be approving the opening of the account! Why I asked, because our website was still under development I was told! That didn't make any sense to me, we were seeking a business checking account, why would the bank insist on a fully functional website at this time, we had the domain name, but a website still under construction! So I immediately called Bank of America, whom we have, and still do business with, about opening a new business checking account! BofA got the ball rolling this past Friday, the same day of the rejection from South State! I presented the same documents to BofA that I did with South State, I woke up this morning, and checked my email to see that BofA had approved the business checking account, they got it done in less than 2 days! The reason why I went to South State to begin with was because they offer free checking, while BofA offers just 3 months only of free checking! What to make of this, I don't know, and frankly I don't care, all I can say is my time was wasted, if you have time to waste, go to South State, but I think an amusement park would be a better option! As for me, time is money, that shouldn't be wasted, but it was at South State!

Presley and Savannah always treat me like family, quick to resolve any questions or concerns I might have. And Presley is definitely a gentleman of his word to return calls and act on my behalf handling any urgent concerns I might have. The team there is awesome and I am always delighted to take care of my banking at that branch.
