Mellow Mushroom Aiken

Fun, funky, pizza shop. Great drink selection, and the pizza is delicious. A small 10" is perfect for 1 person. They have some funky pizza's that will knock your socks off. We entered on the back side where the patio is, on Whisky Alley, you cant miss the place with giant mushrooms and the Grateful Dead Dancing beers. It was a Saturday afternoon and it was busy, but there were plenty of tables available. Parking is pretty easy on the street, We were there beginning of March so it was off season. There was a kids birthday party going on while we were there, so we all sang happy birthday. The staff were on top of things and attentive to the table.

My family and I ate at Mellow mushroom the other day and I was pretty satisfied. I didn't like the presentation of the wings. I felt like they could have mixed them in the sauce, but hey I don't mind getting my fingers a little messy. The pizza was hot and tasted great. We had meat lovers and chicken buffalo. Let me tell you the chicken buffalo is not for lactose intolerant folks.

The atmosphere here is always fun and bustling, but at the right times isn’t too busy. I’ve been here a good few times over the last few years, and I’ve never had a problem. The prices are good for the quality and amount of food you get (at least I think so), and the selection is good without being overwhelming. Highly recommend popping in!

It took over 15 minutes for someone to even come take my drink and food order — and another 25 minutes to get my food. The servers didn’t check in once. They were extremely slow, and it wasn’t even busy. I don’t know if this is an issue of race — I hate to go there — but this is Aiken, and we are in the Deep South. Still, Black folks have just as much money to spend as anyone else, so there should be no excuse for that kind of treatment. After I finished eating, I had to literally hunt my server down just to get my check and my to-go pizza. Then I waited another 30 minutes for her to come back, pick up the check, and run my card. When she finally did, it still took another 10–15 minutes just to bring it back. Every time I looked outside, she was laughing and playing around. Look — I’m all for having fun at work, but do your job first. I spoke with Carson (who was at least polite and had a cute little mustache thing going on), but even then — no offer of a refund, credit, or apology for the absurd wait and lack of service. I used to really like Mellow Mushroom, but after this experience? Never again. The food wasn’t even good. The sweet tea and my drink were okay. Hosts were nice, but that’s about it. Disappointed isn’t even the word. Do better.

Aiken location must do better! My veggie pizza was was a shock from the moment I opened the box. It was as if it was baked crispy then they added the veggies after it was done baking. Cheese wasn't melted and veggies were raw. It also looked as if it was crushed or fell because the shape was not circuler or completely flat.I am very disappointed. Im not sure where or how the baking of a veggie pizza has gone so wrong. But this is my last time. Thanks.
