Visited 7/8/24 on a quiet Monday afternoon. Really interesting tour! Learned a lot and really appreciate the restoration efforts of the DAR here. Great place for an American history field trip. We were told the 4th of July celebrations are not to be missed here so will log that away for another visit! Free on site parking. Near downtown Augusta attractions. A must see when visiting the area!!

Went on a Friday afternoon with my wife. The tour and questions took a little more than an hour but we were going at a slow pace (as we had many questions) The staff volunteer was very welcoming and talked to us about the property before the tour. The tour was very casual with a lot of history of the property and the occupants. The staff member answered all questions and clarified things we did not understand. It's a beautiful property and worth a visit for an hour or slightly longer. There is repair work occurring on the property which I would say added to the value of the tour. We got to see behind the plaster walls and see the construction of the walls at some point. The rough cut wood with plaster and horse hair. The later construction with a mesh over brick then layered with plaster. The furniture is not unique to the property but it all has a story and is historic in and of itself. The loom and spinning wheel in the lower level as a gift from the phinizy's was very interesting with the spinning wheel operational and the loom having plans to restore and bring operational, Amazing. The inside is air conditioned for the comfort of the artifacts but it wasn't bad for patrons as well. Wonderful time.

This museum is so magical! They have beautiful candle lights and Christmas decorations everywhere the whole month of December. They had wonderful costumed tour guides that give you fun and interesting history facts while you walk around the home. They had live music and their gift shop is amazing! Every year they have an open house the first weekend of December!!!

Our tour guide Stephanie was great! My group was more interested in the architecture history of the house and she was able to provide tons of information about the house and point out interesting architecture details. I wish they were planning on making the upstairs into part of the museum just because I wanted to take a look up there ha. Overall great time and it's a cool thing to do on a Monday in Augusta. Lastly - LOVED the cat on the premises. Photo attached.

Of all the historic home tours we've done over the years this was one of the best. No blue hair giving you a rehearsed spiel. The tour is done by a classically trained curator who is engaging and knowledgeable. Highly recommended if you want to have serious historical discussions with someone who knows their stuff.
